Customer Onboarding Extensions for Nordic SaaS Teams

Updated

Your product changes, but customers still open last month’s walkthrough. Updating the recording is only part of the job: the replacement needs review, the right customer context and a way to retire the old guidance on existing installations.

Curiosive can build onboarding extensions for SaaS teams serving Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The scope can connect a walkthrough editor, review and publication controls, browser delivery and administration. Begin with one customer task and the change that made its guidance unreliable.

Choose where the guidance belongs

Compare a browser extension with guidance inside an application you control. An extension is useful when the customer’s working context justifies installation and host access. Name the supported browsers, applications and pages. The walkthrough should explain a task without silently submitting the underlying form or changing settings. A broad automation product is a different scope.

Published reference: Reveal's connected onboarding product

Reveal Software, recorded in Romania, combines a Next.js web application, an extension that overlays personal video walkthroughs inside a product and administration for users, roles and activity. Its shared stack includes TypeScript, Hono, Drizzle ORM and PostgreSQL. This demonstrates connected web, browser and administration delivery. The review, edition-retirement and host-change workflow proposed here is new scope to agree, not an undocumented Reveal feature or a claimed activation result.

Give every walkthrough an owner and a supported context

Record the task, host-page examples, language edition and owner with the guidance. A creator should be able to prepare a draft without making it current for customers. Define which changes need another review and who can publish or pause an edition. The first administration view can make affected walkthroughs inspectable when the host interface changes; do not assume every change can be detected automatically.

Release replacements and retire obsolete instructions

Work through a concrete host change, such as a moved settings control. The owner identifies the affected walkthrough, prepares a replacement and reviews it against the new page. Set the old edition’s treatment while that work is pending. Review both a fresh installation and a currently supported older one, including stale cached content. If the host cannot be matched, show the agreed fallback while leaving the underlying application usable.

Keep account context and language editions explicit

Customer-specific guidance needs a dependable account and workspace boundary. Switching workspace or signing out must not leave another customer’s private material visible. Browser capabilities and installation requirements should match the agreed environment. For audiences in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, select the spoken guidance, captions and interface languages the team can maintain; translated labels alone may not complete a walkthrough.

Scope the update cycle around one changed task

Bring the old walkthrough, the changed host page and the people who create and release guidance. This makes the first increment a maintainable update cycle rather than a disconnected recording tool.

Customer-onboarding extension discovery worksheet

  1. 1. Publication owner

    Ask
Who can turn a walkthrough draft into the current customer edition?
    Evidence to request
A draft, a reviewer role, a released edition and a later correction.
    Tradeoff to record
More local publishing freedom requires clear ownership of inconsistent or outdated guidance.
  2. 2. Context boundary

    Ask
What proves that the viewer is in the intended customer workspace?
    Evidence to request
Two fictional workspaces, a role change and an unsupported host state.
    Tradeoff to record
Automatic targeting should stop at uncertain context instead of exposing the wrong customer material.
  3. 3. Version support

    Ask
Which installed versions must continue to work after this release?
    Evidence to request
The supported extension versions, backend responses and one retired walkthrough.
    Tradeoff to record
Faster releases need a deliberate compatibility and retirement policy for existing installations.

Accept a walkthrough from replacement draft to retirement

Proposed acceptance: an owner identifies guidance affected by a host change, a reviewer releases its replacement and the correct customer can view that edition. A supported existing installation no longer presents the retired edition as current; an unmatched host page shows the agreed fallback. Switching customer workspaces does not retain private guidance. These checks describe the proposed product, not Reveal’s historical tests.

Start with one walkthrough that went out of date

Send the customer task, old guidance and current host page. Curiosive can deliver the web, extension and administration scope remotely from Ankara, Türkiye. The first release should show how your team maintains guidance after the next product change.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

Is an extension always the right approach?

No. Guidance within your own application can be simpler. We compare customer reach, host access and installation requirements before choosing the delivery surface.

What happens if the product changes before the walkthrough is updated?

Define a pause or fallback state for affected guidance and an owner for the replacement. Customers should not be led through obsolete instructions simply because a new recording is unfinished.

Can customer-success staff publish their own guidance?

That can be included with separate creation, review and publication roles. Decide which corrections require another approval and who can withdraw a current edition.

Will it work in every browser and customer application?

Support must be named and tested. Host differences, enterprise installation policies and extension versions affect the scope; universal compatibility is not assumed.

Can the extension perform the customer’s task too?

This service brief focuses on guidance. Any action that changes the host application needs its own interaction rules, permissions and acceptance criteria.

Looking for an engineering partner for the long haul?

A short note about the product, the timeline and who it is for is enough to start. You will hear back from the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team.
