Research Document Review Software Development in Iowa City

A research document tool needs to show what was processed, which source a result describes and what still needs review. A polished generated summary alone cannot explain those relationships. We help Iowa City, Iowa research-software teams develop a connected document workflow around their approved sources and reviewer needs.

Our MedGuide work, recorded in the United Arab Emirates, combines document viewing, structured reports and a queued AI processing pipeline. It supplies relevant document-engineering evidence for a separately scoped research product. Curiosive uses AI to accelerate implementation with engineer review and stays involved as a long-term product partner as formats, output requirements and operating needs evolve.

Define the research record before defining a summary

Start with representative source files and the information the team wants to extract or organize. Agree which fields are copied, transformed or generated, and what source context a reviewer needs to assess them. Decide how the application identifies a document and a later revision. A scan, a digital PDF and another approved format may need different processing paths. Keep the first scope grounded in the document examples the product will actually receive.

Relevant work: MedGuide's staged document pipeline

The MedGuide case describes a Next.js and TypeScript application on Supabase with upload, a document viewer, structured report dashboards, translations, follow-up chat and PDF export. A NestJS backend processes queued extraction, validation, translation and report-building jobs, with Gemini on Google Cloud performing extraction. The project is recorded in the United Arab Emirates and concerns clinical documents. Its staged processing and application delivery provide a reference; academic output schemas, source annotations and research review policies would be new requirements.

Keep processing status separate from review status

A completed job means the processing sequence reached its agreed endpoint. It does not necessarily mean a researcher has reviewed the output. Define those states separately and decide what action is available in each. Show an incomplete extraction or unsupported file as a distinct result rather than an apparently finished blank report. If a retry generates another output version, agree which one is selected for review and how the earlier one remains identifiable.

Make source inspection and export deliberate actions

Agree whether a reviewer needs the whole source, a page reference or a separately scoped annotation view beside each field. Define how a revised document affects an output already under review. Export should use the intended output version and make any required review state explicit. AI accelerates familiar interface and pipeline integration work; engineers review source relationships, account boundaries and recovery. Research owners approve the output definitions and evaluation examples; application checks establish software behavior rather than scientific conclusions.

Review one source document through processing and selected output export

For a new engagement, bring authorized or synthetic document examples, approved output fields and the intended researcher review process. Proposed acceptance examples: a processing result remains attached to the intended source version; incomplete extraction is distinguishable from completed output; a reviewer can inspect the agreed source context; and export uses the selected output under the approved policy. Include an unsupported format and a revised source. These are proposed research-tool checks, not claims about MedGuide's historical academic delivery, source annotations or scientific accuracy.

A product partner as the document collection evolves

New source layouts and reviewer questions reveal where extraction, status explanations or comparison tools need improvement. We collaborate through a shared backlog and reviewed releases so those findings shape the next version. Monthly AI-accelerated development starts from $2,000, with capacity, document-handling policy and review responsibilities agreed in writing. Curiosive LLC works remotely with Iowa City teams through agreed Central-time review windows, with engineering led from Ankara. The partnership continues beyond a first successful processing demonstration.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

Can you build research document review software for an Iowa City team?

Yes. Bring authorized or synthetic sources, approved output fields and the intended review journey so we can scope a representative processing workflow.

How is MedGuide relevant to a research document tool?

Its United Arab Emirates-recorded case demonstrates staged document processing, a viewer, structured reports and export. Research-specific schemas and review rules would be new requirements.

Can outputs stay connected to the source version a reviewer used?

That can be an agreed requirement. Define source identity, revisions and selected output versions before implementing review and export.

Can you improve the tool as our source formats change?

Yes. A continuing engagement can prioritize new document examples, reviewer feedback and processing improvements through a shared backlog and reviewed releases.

How it starts

What happens after you write to us.

  1. 01

    You describe the product

One paragraph on what you are building, roughly when you need it, and who it is for. No brief, no form with fifteen fields.

  2. 02

You get a reply within a day

From the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team. If we are not the right fit we say so, and where possible we point you somewhere better.

  3. 03

    You get a scoped plan

Scope, price and timeline in writing before anything is committed. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

No long contract to begin, no lock-in to our tooling, and the code is yours from the first commit.
