TrendinChat: real-time chat rooms for trending topics
A real-time chat product that opens a room for each trending topic, built with React, React Native, Supabase and WebSockets, with Grok AI integration.

The product problem
Trending topics move quickly, and the conversation around them is scattered across feeds and replies. TrendinChat gives each trending topic its own chat room where people can discuss it as it happens. The product has to surface what is trending, present it clearly and move a visitor into a live conversation with very little friction between seeing a topic and joining it.
The delivered scope
TrendinChat was built in two weeks. The public site lists trending rooms with filters for world news, sports, politics and entertainment. Each room card shows the topic, a short summary, its category, country flags for where it is trending and how long it has been trending. TypeScript, React and React Native form the client stack. Supabase and WebSockets sit behind the real-time conversations, and Grok AI is integrated into the product.
Scoping a real-time product for a short build
A two-week build works when the core loop is narrow. Here it is simple: see a trending topic, open its room and talk. Each room has its own address, so a topic can be shared and revisited. For a similar product, settle early where trend data comes from, what AI adds to each room and how messages stay in sync across web and mobile clients.
