Localising an app for Luxembourg: French, German and Luxembourgish
Under Luxembourg's Languages Law of 1984, French, German or Luxembourgish may be used in administrative and judicial matters, and legislation is written in French, with only the French text deemed authentic. The government portal adds that English is widely used and that foreign residents make up almost 50% of the population. That makes language a product decision rather than a translation pass at the end. We set up string extraction and in-app language switching from the first screen, so French and German, plus English if your audience calls for it, ship together, and terms or consent wording can be checked in French. Once the string catalogue exists, agents wire every screen to it and flag hard-coded text. A person decides the default language and who signs off the legal copy.
