Mobile App Development for Monaco, Where iOS Leads

StatCounter measured iOS at 67.65% of mobile operating system usage in Monaco in September 2026, against 32.35% for Android. That split shapes a launch: the iPhone build carries most of the measured traffic, yet about a third still runs on Android, so neither store can be an afterthought. The other half of the problem is legal. Monaco has its own data protection law, Law No. 1.565, with its own consent age and device storage rule, so an app copied from an EU template can get both wrong.

Curiosive works from Ankara, Türkiye, as a studio where AI coding agents write the volume and a senior engineer reviews every diff before it merges. Apps are built in React Native, so one TypeScript codebase reaches the App Store and Google Play. Agents scaffold screens, navigation, forms, tests and store metadata drafts. Engineers own token storage, auth refresh, entitlement checks, offline behaviour, permission prompts and the privacy declarations store review reads. Ankara is one hour ahead of Monaco in summer and two in winter.

Planning an iOS-First React Native Release for Users in Monaco

StatCounter's September 2026 figures put iOS at roughly two-thirds of measured mobile web usage in the Principality. That is web traffic rather than installs, but it is a reasonable signal for test planning: run the release checklist on recent iPhones first and still treat Android as a full target, which React Native makes practical because both builds come from one codebase. Language is the other planning input. Article 8 of Monaco's Constitution of 17 December 1962 makes French the official language of the State, so an app aimed at residents should ship French strings from the first release. Agents handle the mechanical part well: extracting strings, keeping locales in sync and flagging screens where longer French copy breaks a layout. A fluent reader should still check the final copy. Our React Native work includes TrendinChat (trendin.chat), built in two weeks, and Coffict (coffict.com), both for clients in Türkiye.

If an app is offered directly to children, Monaco draws the line at 15. Article 6 of Law No. 1.565 says that for an information society service offered to a minor under 15, consent-based processing is lawful only if the minor consents with the authorisation of the holder or holders of parental authority. The controller must make reasonable efforts to verify that authorisation and must write the information in terms a minor can understand. Teams reusing an EU flow should note that the GDPR default in its Article 8 is 16, with Member States allowed to go no lower than 13, so a GDPR-tuned age gate does not carry across one to one. Apple's updated age rating system also adds 13+, 16+ and 18+ to the existing 4+ and 9+, with required questions developers had to answer for each app by January 31, 2026. The age gate, the parental step and the plain-language notice are designed and reviewed by an engineer.

Analytics SDKs and Article 87 Device Storage Rules in Monaco

Article 87 of Law No. 1.565 covers any access to, or collection of, personal data stored on a user's terminal equipment. Before it happens, the user must get clear and complete information on its purpose and on how to object. Access to the service cannot be made conditional on accepting it unless the processing is strictly necessary for transmitting a communication or for a service the user expressly requested. Breaches fall in the law's top fine tier. In a mobile app this touches analytics SDKs, crash reporting and anything that writes identifiers to the device. The same inventory feeds the store paperwork: Apple requires approved reasons in the privacy manifest for each required-reason API the code uses, and Google Play's Data safety form must stay accurate, including data collected through third-party SDKs. Agents draft the declarations from one SDK inventory, then an engineer checks each entry against the code before submission.

MConnect Sign-In and Account Deletion for a Monaco App

The Principality runs a State digital identity, MConnect, derived from the official ID. Monegasque private-sector organisations can apply through the MConnect partner contact form to accept it as a login method for their online services. It uses open standard protocols and supplies verified attributes: surname, given names, usage name and date of birth. For an app that needs to know who a resident is, or how old they are, a verified date of birth is a stronger signal than a self-declared one, though acceptance as a partner is MConnect's decision. Whatever the login method, the sensitive parts stay with engineers: tokens in the iOS Keychain and Android Keystore, careful refresh handling and account deletion. Apple requires apps that support account creation to let users start deletion inside the app, and Google Play requires both an in-app path and a web link for deletion requests.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

What does it cost to build an iPhone and Android app for users in Monaco?

Work runs as AI-accelerated development, starting from $2,000 per month, with scope agreed in writing. Monaco-specific work, such as French localisation, an under-15 consent flow or MConnect sign-in, is sized in the discovery call before scope and budget are agreed in writing.

Does an app for users in Monaco need separate iPhone and Android builds?

No. React Native gives one TypeScript codebase for both stores, which suits a market where StatCounter measured roughly two-thirds iOS and one third Android usage. Store rules still differ: since 31 August 2026 Google Play requires new apps and app updates to target Android 16 (API level 36), so each store keeps its own release checklist.

Can a Monaco app let users log in with MConnect?

Possibly, if the organisation behind it is accepted. Monegasque private-sector organisations can apply through the MConnect partner contact form, and an accepted service receives verified surname, given names, usage name and date of birth over open standard protocols. Approval is MConnect's decision, so apply before designing the sign-in screens around it.

What is the age of digital consent for apps in Monaco?

It is 15 under Law No. 1.565. Below that age, consent-based processing for a service offered directly to a minor needs the authorisation of whoever holds parental authority, with reasonable efforts to verify it. This page describes what to plan for rather than giving legal advice, so it is worth confirming your specific flow with a lawyer before launch.

How it starts

What happens after you write to us.

  1. 01

    You describe the product

One paragraph on what you are building, roughly when you need it, and who it is for. No brief, no form with fifteen fields.

  2. 02

You get a reply within a day

From the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team. If we are not the right fit we say so, and where possible we point you somewhere better.

  3. 03

    You get a scoped plan

Scope, price and timeline in writing before anything is committed. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

No long contract to begin, no lock-in to our tooling, and the code is yours from the first commit.
