Software Development for Alabama Teams, Built from Ankara

At 09:00 in Alabama it is already 17:00 or 18:00 in Ankara, depending on the season. That gap decides how an outside engineering partner can work with you. The second is newer: from May 1, 2027, the state's privacy law requires a processor to work for a covered business under a binding contract, and a development partner with access to production personal data can end up in that role.

Curiosive is a software studio in Ankara, Türkiye, building with AI coding agents under senior engineer review. US clients contract with Curiosive LLC, a US company, and pay in US dollars. Work runs as AI-accelerated development, starting from $2,000 per month, with scope agreed in writing. Repository, database and hosting accounts sit in your name from the first commit.

For US founders and product teams

A US company. An engineering partner you can keep.

Curiosive LLC is our US-registered company. Engineering is led from Ankara, Türkiye, with collaboration across European and US time zones. Your engagement starts with a written scope, monthly capacity and a clear delivery plan.

Know who you hire

Curiosive LLC provides the services. Our US company details and service terms are published, and pricing is in USD.

Know what will ship

Agree scope, capacity and start date before checkout. Work through a prioritized queue, with senior engineers reviewing changes before they reach production.

Keep ownership

Typed, tested and documented code, with no lock-in to our tooling. Define repository access, handover and the working-hour overlap during discovery.

Working hours between Alabama and Ankara, in winter and summer

Alabama runs on Central Time and Ankara stays on UTC+3 all year, because Türkiye does not use daylight saving time, so the gap moves twice a year. In winter, on CST (UTC-6), Ankara is 9 hours ahead and a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day shares no hours: our working day runs from 00:00 to 09:00 your time. In summer, on CDT (UTC-5), Ankara is 8 hours ahead and the two days share one hour, 09:00 to 10:00 in Alabama, which is 17:00 to 18:00 in Ankara. We work Türkiye business hours, so the model is asynchronous. You leave decisions and feedback during your day, we build during your night, and a written handoff is waiting when you start. The one short weekly call sits at the edge of both days: 09:00 your time (18:00 in Ankara) in winter, inside the 09:00 to 10:00 hour in summer.

Does Alabama's 2027 privacy law apply to your company?

The Alabama Personal Data Protection Act (Act 2026-552) takes effect on May 1, 2027. It applies to businesses operating in the state or targeting its residents that control or process personal data of more than 25,000 consumers, not counting data processed only to complete a payment, or that derive more than 25 percent of gross revenue from selling personal data. Businesses with fewer than 500 employees that do not sell personal data are exempt, and people acting in a commercial or employment context are not consumers under the act. The Attorney General enforces it. There is no private right of action and no data protection assessment requirement. The Attorney General must first send a notice of violation and allow 45 days to cure; if the violation is not corrected, a court can assess a civil penalty of up to $15,000 per violation. Whether your company is covered is worth confirming with a lawyer.

Processor contracts under Alabama law for outsourced engineering

When a covered business has a processor handle personal data for it, the act requires a binding contract. It must set out the processing instructions, the nature and purpose of the processing, the types of data, the duration and both parties' rights. It must also require confidentiality, deletion or return of the data when the work ends, compliance information on request and the same obligations for any subcontractors. Several of those points line up with how we already work. Repository, database and hosting accounts are opened in your name or connected to accounts you hold, so ending the work means removing our access rather than moving systems. Scope and budget are agreed in writing after the discovery call, which is a natural place to record the processing details the act lists.

Contracting and sales tax on custom software for Alabama companies

The agreement is with Curiosive LLC, a company registered in New Mexico, so you sign a US contract rather than a cross-border one. State tax also treats custom work differently from packaged software. Under Department of Revenue Rule 810-6-1-.37, charges for programming that develops or modifies software for a specific customer's needs are not subject to sales tax when they are stated separately on the invoice from any purchased or licensed software. The programmer still owes tax on any tangible medium used to deliver the work, while maintenance contracts sold with the programming are not taxable. Our code goes into a repository in your name rather than onto a disk, and it pays to ask any vendor to list programming charges on their own invoice lines.

Agentic software engineering for Alabama teams: the review loop

Each change starts with an engineer writing a scoped task: acceptance criteria plus the boundaries the agent must not cross. A coding agent works through it inside the repository, reading the existing code, planning, implementing, updating tests and running the type checker, linter and test suite before it proposes anything. A senior engineer reviews every diff, agents never merge their own work and continuous integration re-runs the checks. Data models, authentication, authorization, payment paths and personal data stay with engineers, which matters once your users' data falls under a processor contract. Because review happens in the Ankara day, the diff your team sees each morning has already passed it. Agents make the volume cheaper; they do not remove the review. That loop carried the Zing Coach rebuild from Webflow to Next.js for a US fitness product with 1M+ users and the RateItAll revival with 12M+ reviews.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

Can an Alabama company contract with a software development studio in Türkiye?

Yes, and for US clients the contract is with a US company. The legal entity behind the brand is Curiosive LLC, registered in New Mexico, so you sign a US agreement and pay in US dollars while the engineering happens remotely from Ankara, Türkiye.

Will an offshore developer be online during my workday in Alabama?

Mostly not, and we say so up front. In winter Ankara is 9 hours ahead and a 09:00 to 18:00 day shares no hours; in summer it is 8 hours ahead and you share 09:00 to 10:00 your time. Work runs on written async handoffs, with one short weekly call at the start of your day.

Is custom software development taxable in Alabama?

Programming charges for software built or modified for a specific customer are not subject to sales tax when they are stated separately on the invoice from purchased or licensed software, under Rule 810-6-1-.37. Tax still applies to any tangible medium used to deliver the work, so delivery through a repository and itemized invoices both matter.

How much does outsourced software development cost for an Alabama company?

It starts from $2,000 per month for AI-accelerated development. Scope and capacity are fixed in writing once we have had a discovery call, so the figure is a floor rather than an estimate. There is no long contract to begin, a releasable increment ships every week and decisions are kept in writing to suit the time gap.

How it starts

What happens after you write to us.

  1. 01

    You describe the product

One paragraph on what you are building, roughly when you need it, and who it is for. No brief, no form with fifteen fields.

  2. 02

You get a reply within a day

From the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team. If we are not the right fit we say so, and where possible we point you somewhere better.

  3. 03

    You get a scoped plan

Scope, price and timeline in writing before anything is committed. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

No long contract to begin, no lock-in to our tooling, and the code is yours from the first commit.

Looking for an engineering partner for the long haul?

A short note about the product, the timeline and who it is for is enough to start. You will hear back from the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team.
