Software Development for Teams in Liechtenstein

It is easy to assume that keeping a database in Europe means personal data never leaves it. EDPB guidance says otherwise: remote access from a third country is a transfer when the transfer criteria are met, even if an engineer only views data on a screen for support. The GDPR applies in Liechtenstein through the EEA Agreement, so bringing in engineers from Türkiye means planning a transfer mechanism, a contract and a working rhythm across two time zones before the first commit.

Curiosive is a studio in Ankara, Türkiye, that builds software with AI coding agents and has a senior engineer review every change. Teams use us for a product built end to end or as an embedded partner on a monthly monthly engagement. Agents do the volume work: scaffolding, migrations, test coverage and refactors that touch hundreds of files. Engineers own data models, authentication, permissions, payment paths and anything touching personal data.

GDPR and the DSG for software teams in Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is not an EU member state. It is one of the three EEA EFTA States, with Iceland and Norway, and the EEA Agreement gives it access to the EU internal market but not the customs union, the common trade policy or monetary union. The EEA Joint Committee decision incorporating the GDPR entered into force on 20 July 2018, and the regulation has applied there since. The national Datenschutzgesetz (DSG) of 4 October 2018, in a consolidated version in force since 1 April 2026, makes the Datenschutzstelle the supervisory authority and sets fines in Swiss francs: up to CHF 11 million or 2% of worldwide annual turnover, and up to CHF 22 million or 4% for the most serious breaches. For a development partner the useful reading is a design brief: who can see production data, from where, on what basis.

Engineers in Türkiye and data transfers from Liechtenstein

Because the GDPR applies in Liechtenstein, so do its Chapter V rules on transfers. As of 2 October 2026, Türkiye is not on the European Commission's list of adequacy decisions, so personal data made available to a studio in Türkiye needs another transfer tool, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses in Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914. Of their four modules, controller to processor usually fits a client handing a studio its own data. Under Clause 14, both parties warrant that they have no reason to believe the destination country's laws and practices prevent the importer from complying. EDPB Guidelines 05/2021 add that remote access for support, troubleshooting or administration is a transfer when the three criteria are met. The practical question is which tasks need production personal data at all: much work can run on seeded test data, with production access limited to tasks the contract covers.

Time zones between Ankara and Liechtenstein in winter and summer

Ankara stays on UTC+3 all year because Türkiye does not use daylight saving time, while Liechtenstein runs on UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer. In winter Ankara is two hours ahead. When our day starts at 09:00 it is 07:00 there, a local day starting at 09:00 is 11:00 in Ankara, and our 18:00 finish is 16:00 there. That leaves 7 shared hours in a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day. In summer the gap narrows to one hour: our day runs from 08:00 to 17:00 local time, a local 09:00 start is 10:00 in Ankara, and the overlap is 8 hours. In both seasons the weekly call fits inside shared hours, and decisions are written down so nobody waits on a meeting.

How the agentic review loop works on your codebase

Each piece of work starts as a scoped task written by an engineer, with acceptance criteria and the boundaries the agent must not cross. A coding agent, Claude Code or Cursor, reads the existing code, plans, implements, writes or updates tests, and runs the type checker, linter and test suite before proposing a change. A senior engineer reviews every diff before it merges, and agents never merge their own work. Continuous integration re-runs the checks, with Playwright for end-to-end tests. Review gates matter more when agents write volume, because a plausible change can still widen access. Agents speed up scaffolding, migrations and refactors; they do not change who is accountable for auth, permissions and personal data. Our portfolio includes the Zing Coach (zing.coach) rebuild from Webflow to Next.js and the Detailed SEO Extension, used by 600,000 SEOs and maintained through its acquisition by Ahrefs.

Contracting, VAT and currency for clients in Liechtenstein

Clients there contract with us cross-border, and our published prices are starting points in US dollars. The local currency is the Swiss franc, so a budget approved in CHF should allow for the exchange rate. On VAT, Art. 10 MWSTG exempts a foreign business supplying only other services whose place of supply is in Liechtenstein under Art. 8(1), and Art. 45 then puts acquisition tax (Bezugsteuer) on the recipient if it is itself VAT-registered or obtains more than CHF 10,000 of such services in a calendar year. Your accountant can confirm which rule fits an engagement. Fintech teams have one more date: TT service providers registered under the TVTG whose business falls under MiCAR need authorisation under Article 63 MiCAR to keep operating after a transitional period that ran until 1 July 2026.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

Can engineers in Türkiye work on systems holding personal data from Liechtenstein?

Yes, with a transfer tool in place. As of 2 October 2026 Türkiye has no adequacy decision from the European Commission, so one route is Standard Contractual Clauses under Decision (EU) 2021/914, combined with limits on what engineers can see. Remote access to production data can itself be a transfer, so access is worth planning task by task.

How many working hours overlap between Liechtenstein and Ankara?

Seven in winter and eight in summer, within a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day. Türkiye stays on UTC+3 all year while Liechtenstein moves between UTC+1 and UTC+2, so the gap is two hours in winter and one in summer. Decisions are written down, and the one short weekly call sits inside the shared hours.

How much does an outsourced software development monthly engagement cost?

Work runs as AI-accelerated development, starting from $2,000 per month, with scope agreed in writing. That is a US dollar starting point, not a quote. Scope and budget are agreed in writing after a discovery call, with no long contract to begin.

Who owns the code if we outsource software development from Liechtenstein?

You do, from the first commit. Repository, database and hosting accounts are opened in your name or connected to accounts you already hold, and the code is typed, tested and documented so another team can take it over. There is no lock-in to our tooling, including the coding agents we use.

How it starts

What happens after you write to us.

  1. 01

    You describe the product

One paragraph on what you are building, roughly when you need it, and who it is for. No brief, no form with fifteen fields.

  2. 02

You get a reply within a day

From the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team. If we are not the right fit we say so, and where possible we point you somewhere better.

  3. 03

    You get a scoped plan

Scope, price and timeline in writing before anything is committed. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

No long contract to begin, no lock-in to our tooling, and the code is yours from the first commit.

Looking for an engineering partner for the long haul?

A short note about the product, the timeline and who it is for is enough to start. You will hear back from the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team.
