Software Development for Teams in the Czech Republic

When an office in Prague starts work at 09:00, it is 10:00 in Ankara in summer and 11:00 in winter. For a team in the Czech Republic buying engineering capacity abroad, the clock is the easy part. The harder questions are who may see production personal data from outside the EU, whether a cookie banner holds up against the published rules of the Czech data protection authority, and whether code written partly by AI agents can be trusted to merge.

Curiosive is an AI-native software studio working from Ankara, Türkiye. Coding agents do the volume of the work and senior engineers review every line. We take on products end to end or join an existing team on a monthly monthly engagement, and we have worked for a client in the Czech Republic: Murder in Prague (murderinprague.com), a Shopify storefront selling a physical detective kit, paired with a Next.js app that runs the game.

Working hours between the Czech Republic and Ankara, Türkiye

Ankara stays on UTC+3 all year because Türkiye does not use daylight saving time. The Czech Republic runs on UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer, so Ankara is two hours ahead in winter and one hour ahead in summer. In winter, the Ankara day of 09:00 to 18:00 runs from 07:00 to 16:00 Czech time, leaving 7 shared hours in a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day. In summer it runs from 08:00 to 17:00 Czech time, leaving 8 shared hours. A call booked for 09:00 in Prague lands at 11:00 in Ankara in winter and 10:00 in summer, inside the studio's day in both seasons. The last two Czech office hours in winter, and the last one in summer, fall after the studio's day has ended, so anything raised then waits for the next Ankara working day. Work is async by default: decisions written down, a releasable increment every week and one short weekly call.

GDPR transfers from the Czech Republic to engineers in Türkiye

As of 2 October 2026, Türkiye is not on the European Commission's list of adequacy decisions, so Czech personal data reaching engineers in Türkiye needs another GDPR Chapter V transfer tool, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses in Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914. Under Clause 14, both parties warrant that they have no reason to believe the laws and practices in Türkiye prevent the importer from complying. EDPB Guidelines 05/2021 treat remote access from a third country as a transfer when the three transfer criteria are met, even if data is only displayed on a screen. It pays to give engineers seeded data and treat production access as a scoped exception. The Czech supervisory authority is the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ). In a final and binding decision announced on 15 April 2024, it fined Avast Software s.r.o. CZK 351 million for passing pseudonymised browsing histories of roughly 100 million users to Jumpshot INC while calling the data anonymous.

The ÚOOÚ publishes a cookie Q&A that reads like a specification. Non-technical cookies, such as those for tracking traffic or analysing visitor preferences, may only be activated after consent. Refusing must be as easy as consenting, with both options in the same banner layer, and the agree button should not be noticeably bigger or more colourful than reject. Closing the banner is not consent. The banner must not block interaction with the site, and access cannot be made conditional on consent, so cookie walls are out. First-party analytics can rely on legitimate interest for the later processing, but not for storing the cookie in the first place. The same rules cover local storage and browser fingerprinting. Consent belongs in code as a gate that every analytics script depends on, so a later redesign of the banner cannot quietly switch tracking back on. That gate is the kind of boundary an engineer writes and reviews, not an agent.

Agentic software engineering on a monthly engagement for Czech teams

For each task, an engineer sets acceptance criteria and the limits the agent works within. Claude Code or Cursor then reads the existing code, plans, implements, updates tests and runs the type checker, linter and test suite before proposing a change. Continuous integration repeats those checks and a senior engineer reviews every diff. Data models, authentication, permissions, payment paths and anything touching personal data stay with engineers, which on a Czech system includes the ÚOOÚ consent gate and the rule that production personal data is reached only under the transfer terms above. Agents cut the cost of migrations, wide refactors and test coverage. They do not cut the cost of judgement, which is why review is a gate. We rebuilt Zing Coach (zing.coach) from Webflow to Next.js, revived RateItAll (rateitall.com) with its 12M+ reviews, and maintained the Detailed SEO Extension, used by 600,000 SEOs, through its acquisition by Ahrefs. Work runs as AI-accelerated development, starting from $2,000 per month, with scope agreed in writing.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

Can a Czech company contract a software development studio in Türkiye?

Yes, as a cross-border contract. Any work that touches personal data also needs a GDPR Chapter V transfer tool such as the Standard Contractual Clauses, because Türkiye has no EU adequacy decision. A discovery call comes first, then scope and budget are put in writing; there is no long contract to begin, and the code belongs to the client from the first commit.

How many working hours overlap between Prague and Ankara?

Seven hours in winter and eight in summer, within a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day. Türkiye stays on UTC+3 all year while the Czech Republic changes its clocks, so the studio's day covers 07:00 to 16:00 Czech time in winter and 08:00 to 17:00 in summer. The late Czech afternoon falls outside it.

Do AI coding agents make software development cheaper for Czech startups?

They make volume cheaper, not judgement. Agents handle scaffolding, migrations, test coverage and wide refactors, while engineers still design data models, auth, permissions and payment paths and read every diff before it merges. The saving shows up in how much tested work a fixed budget buys, not in skipped review.

Does NIS2 matter when a Czech cloud provider outsources development?

It can. NIS2, which Member States had to apply from 18 October 2024, covers medium-sized and larger entities in its Annex I and II sectors, including cloud computing and managed service providers. Its Article 21 requires in-scope entities to address supply chain security, including relationships with direct suppliers and service providers, so expect questions about how a studio handles access, secrets and code review.

How it starts

What happens after you write to us.

  1. 01

    You describe the product

One paragraph on what you are building, roughly when you need it, and who it is for. No brief, no form with fifteen fields.

  2. 02

You get a reply within a day

From the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team. If we are not the right fit we say so, and where possible we point you somewhere better.

  3. 03

    You get a scoped plan

Scope, price and timeline in writing before anything is committed. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

No long contract to begin, no lock-in to our tooling, and the code is yours from the first commit.

Looking for an engineering partner for the long haul?

A short note about the product, the timeline and who it is for is enough to start. You will hear back from the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team.
