Software Development for Companies in Slovakia

For a company in Slovakia bringing in engineers from outside the EU, the easy mistake is assuming that an EU-region database settles data protection. It does not. EDPB Guidelines 05/2021 treat remote access from a third country as a transfer under GDPR Chapter V when the three transfer criteria are met, even if it only means viewing personal data on a screen. As of 2 October 2026, Türkiye has no EU adequacy decision, so work from a studio there needs another transfer tool written into the contract.

Curiosive works from Ankara, Türkiye: AI coding agents write the volume and a senior engineer reviews every diff before it merges. Teams can use us in two ways: a product built end to end, from discovery to a first slice in production, or an embedded monthly engagement covering releases, monitoring, bugs and roadmap work. The clocks differ by one or two hours depending on the season, so most of the working day is shared.

Data protection when engineers in Türkiye work on Slovak systems

Slovakia supplements the GDPR with Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on personal data protection, and the supervisory authority is the Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky (dataprotection.gov.sk), which receives personal data breach notifications and notifications of a data protection officer. As of 2 October 2026, Türkiye is not on the European Commission's adequacy list, so a common tool is the Standard Contractual Clauses of Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914. Their controller to processor module matches the usual setup in which your company decides and the studio processes on your instructions. Under Clause 14, both parties warrant that they have no reason to believe the destination country's laws and practices prevent the importer from complying. It is worth having your lawyer confirm the module and the annexes. A sensible design goal is that production personal data rarely needs to be seen: seeded test data, scoped access and logs without personal fields.

Working hours between Slovakia and Ankara, season by season

Ankara stays on UTC+3 all year because Türkiye does not use daylight saving time, while Slovakia moves between GMT+2 in summer and GMT+1 in winter, so the gap changes twice a year. In summer, Ankara is one hour ahead: our 09:00 start is 08:00 for you, our 18:00 finish is 17:00 Slovak time, and your 09:00 is 10:00 for us. That leaves 8 shared hours in a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day. In winter, Ankara is two hours ahead: we start at 07:00 your time and finish at 16:00 your time, and your 09:00 is our 11:00, which leaves 7 shared hours. The work runs on Türkiye business hours in both seasons. Decisions are written down, a releasable increment ships every week and one short weekly call is booked inside the shared hours.

How agentic software engineering works in a monthly engagement

Each piece of work starts with an engineer writing a scoped task: acceptance criteria, plus the boundaries the agent must not cross. A coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor then works inside your repository. It reads the existing code, plans, implements, writes or updates tests, and runs the type checker, linter and test suite before proposing a change. Agents never merge their own work; a senior engineer reads the diff first. Continuous integration re-runs the checks on every change. Data models, authentication, authorization, payment paths and anything touching personal data stay with engineers, as does the security review. That changes where hours go: less time typing boilerplate, more time on review and design. It does not remove the review, which matters more when agents produce volume. The offer is AI-accelerated development from $2,000 per month, with scope and capacity agreed in writing.

The Slovak telecom regulator, together with the data protection office, has published an opinion on consent under § 109(8) of the Electronic Communications Act for storing or reading information on a user's device. A banner with accept all on its first layer must offer an equally easy one-click reject all on that same layer. Analytics and marketing options must not be pre-ticked, and access to content must not depend on consent. The rules also cover fingerprinting and web beacons, not only cookies, and 12 months is generally a reasonable period before asking again after a user consents or refuses. Agents build the banner and the consent storage. Engineers decide which scripts count as strictly necessary, and Playwright tests check that no analytics or marketing tag fires before the user has chosen.

Slovakia's IT sector and where outside capacity fits

SARIO's ICT sector overview (01/2026) counts 20,000 companies in the Slovak IT sector, more than 120,000 job opportunities (2024 data) and 70% growth in the number of employees between 2014 and 2024, and names Košice IT Valley and ZAIT in Žilina as regional clusters. For work that needs engineering capacity before it justifies a permanent role, an outside partner is one option alongside that market. We have no client project in Slovakia yet. Our shipped work includes the Webflow to Next.js rebuild of Zing Coach (zing.coach), AI fitness coaching for 1M+ users, and the revival of RateItAll (rateitall.com) with 12M+ reviews, both for clients in the United States, plus the Detailed SEO Extension for a UK client, used by 600,000 SEOs and maintained through its acquisition by Ahrefs.

Questions

The things people ask before starting.

Can a software company in Türkiye work on personal data from Slovakia under the GDPR?

Yes, with a GDPR Chapter V transfer tool in place. As of 2 October 2026 Türkiye has no EU adequacy decision, so work from Ankara would typically rely on the 2021 Standard Contractual Clauses, often the controller to processor module, alongside Slovakia's Act No. 18/2018 Coll. Remote access can count as a transfer even when the data stays on EU servers.

What time is it in Ankara when it is 9:00 in Slovakia?

It is 10:00 in Ankara while Slovakia is on summer time (GMT+2) and 11:00 while it is on winter time (GMT+1). Because Ankara stays on UTC+3 all year, a standard 09:00 to 18:00 day shares 8 hours in summer and 7 in winter.

How much does it cost to outsource software development from Slovakia?

Our single offer, AI-accelerated development, begins at $2,000 per month. That figure is a starting point in US dollars, not a quote. Scope and capacity are agreed in writing after a discovery call, with no long contract to begin and no lock-in to our tooling.

Do AI coding agents commit code to our repository without review?

No. Every diff is reviewed by a senior engineer before it merges, and continuous integration re-runs the type checker, linter and tests on every change. Authentication, permissions, payment paths and personal data handling are designed and reviewed by engineers, never left to an agent.

How it starts

What happens after you write to us.

  1. 01

    You describe the product

One paragraph on what you are building, roughly when you need it, and who it is for. No brief, no form with fifteen fields.

  2. 02

You get a reply within a day

From the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team. If we are not the right fit we say so, and where possible we point you somewhere better.

  3. 03

    You get a scoped plan

Scope, price and timeline in writing before anything is committed. You decide with the numbers in front of you.

No long contract to begin, no lock-in to our tooling, and the code is yours from the first commit.

Looking for an engineering partner for the long haul?

A short note about the product, the timeline and who it is for is enough to start. You will hear back from the engineer who would do the work, not a sales team.
